Design and Build
The Poco M3 isn’t a reimagined Xiaomi Redmi handset. It was created exclusively by Poco and has a one-of-a-kind style. What’s more, the Poco M3 looks better than other phones in its price range. Because of the clever use of fabrics and accents, it avoids looking cheap. The M3 does not attempt to look like a dual-glass sandwich handset. Poco has concentrated on making the most of the resources of its all-plastic build, and the result is exemplary.
To make way for the selfie camera, the Poco M3 has a wide 6.53 IPS LCD with a waterdrop-shaped notch at the top. The resolution has been increased to 1080p (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) with a 395ppi density. For the budget market, that’s a fairly high resolution, and it gives the M3 an advantage over its competitors.

User Interface and Performance
The Poco M3 ships with MIUI 12 pre-installed. The launcher is built on Android 10 and comes with a simplified GUI that includes cool animations, new privacy options, floating windows, a dedicated Control Center, Super Wallpapers, and a brand-new app drawer, among other things.
The Snapdragon 662 chipset, which is built on the 11nm manufacturing process, powers the Poco M3. The SoC is powered by an octa-core CPU with four Kryo 260 Gold cores running at 2.0 GHz and four Kryo 260 Silver cores running at 1.8 GHz. The Gold cores are based on the Cortex-A73 architecture, while the Silver variants are based on the more energy-efficient Cortex-A53 architecture.
The Adreno 610 GPU is found within the Snapdragon 662. The SoC has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal UFC 2.0 capacity. A version with 4GB RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage is also available. MicroSD expansion is available on both versions.
Camera Quality
The Poco M3 has a triple-camera setup on the back, but it’s as simple as it gets. There’s a 48MP main camera, as well as a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. There’s even a single-LED light.
The Poco M3 has a 48MP Quad-Bayer sensor with an f/1.8 lens, 0.8m pixels, and PDAF as its primary camera. This camera has a Night Mode feature. The macro camera has a resolution of 2MP and an f/2.4 aperture with 1.75m pixels, but no autofocus. Finally, a 2MP depth sensor is included.
The Poco M3 has an 8MP selfie camera with a fixed-focus lens and an f/2.1 aperture. The photos have average detail, while the contrast and colours are adequate. There is noise, and the dynamic range is just average. When photographing indoors, the camera can struggle with the exposure, resulting in a ghost face.
Video Recording
With its main camera, the Poco M3 can capture videos up to 1080p@30fps. There is no 4K mode, 60fps shooting is not available either. The video is recorded at a bitrate of 20Mbps, while the audio is recorded in stereo at a bitrate of 96Kbps. There is no support for electronic stabilization though.
The footage from the main camera is average in detail and with low dynamic range. The contrast is okay, and so are the colours.
Battery Life
A huge 6,000 mAh battery powers the Poco M3. The phone supports 18W quick charging, which is good because charging this behemoth with a slow adapter would take forever.
The Poco M3 is equipped with a 22.5W fast charger in addition to a large 6,000mAh battery. Unfortunately, the M3 is overqualified for the job, as it can only charge at 18W.
