Features of the JBL Charge 5
For music, the JBL Charge 5 is adequate. It is suitable for listening to a wide range of musical genres because it has a neutral sound profile right out of the box. However, it doesn’t get very loud and lacks some low bass, so you won’t be able to experience the deep thump and rumble in bass-heavy songs like EDM or hip-hop. The visual EQ in its accompanying app lets you alter the sound profile to your preferences, although it might not be sufficient to produce a low bass that thumps.
The JBL Charge 5 does a mediocre job when it comes to watching movies and television. Due to the balanced mid-range that is there out of the box, voices and speech sound clear and present in the mix. It also has minimum Bluetooth latency with iOS and Android devices, so there shouldn’t be a major delay between your audio and video, even if different apps adjust for latency in different ways and your experience may vary. Unfortunately, this might disappoint action movie lovers because the deep bass isn’t loud and booming.
The JBL Charge 5 is suitable for use outside. Lengthy days spent outdoors are appropriate because of their excellent build quality and long battery life. You don’t have to be concerned about it getting a little wet from light rain when outside because it has an IP67 rating for dust and water protection. Additionally, its neutral sound profile makes it suitable for playing a range of audio files. However, the lack of low bass prevents you from experiencing the thump and rumble of bass-heavy music.
