Infinix Note 8 was announced in October 2020 and launched in November 2020. It is a semi-premium smartphone from Infinix with a good blend of features and cost-effectiveness. Design and Build
Infinix Note 8 plastic body and frame which is to be expected at its price point. The back is plastic with a camera mount bump to the left.
There is no water and dust resistance rating for the phone so you better take care. Gray, Blue, Green are the colour options you can choose from. Infinix Note 8 is 175.3 x 78.8 x 9 mm in size and weighs in at 200g.
The screen is huge at 6.95″ IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1640px and approximately 83.0% screen-to-body ratio. The pixels density is not high at only 258ppi, so considering how big the screen is the images are not as sharp.
User Interface and Performance
The Infinix Note 8 is shipped with a custom UI, XOS 7.1 which is built on top of Android 10 and should be upgradeable to Android 11 . It comes with a Mediatek Helio G80 (12 nm) chipset with an Octa-core CPU (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55); and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. Infinix Note 8 Main camera is a quad setup with a 64 MP, (wide), 1/1.73″, 0.8µm, PDAF, 2 MP, (macro), 2 MP, (depth), 2 MP. It has a Quad-LED flash and supports HDR and panorama. The selfie camera is a dual16 MP, 2 MP (depth) which also supports HDR.
The Infinix Note 8 records videos using the rear or main camera at 1440p@30fps which is not as high as the other models. The selfie or front camera records video at 1080p@30fps.
Connectivity and Features
Infinix Note 8 come with dual SIM slots using nano-SIM and supports dual standby which will help most usage. It also supports wireless LAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot. The Bluetooth is version 5.0 with A2DP and LE, to connect to a host of devices. It however lacks NFC connectivity which is a bummer as reduces automation.
The highlight of any modern smartphone features for a mid-ranger is accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass and Infinix Note 8 has all of these. It also comes with FM Radio support and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the power button.
